In perfumery it is labelled as” a Middle Note”  acting as a bridge between higher notes (such as citrus) and base notes (such as vetiver and patchouli) helping to round out a scent and add complexity.

It is believed it fades scares and it’s anti-inflamatory properties may help ease muscle issues.
